Dizziness caused by compressor or heat pump

New postby Jared on Thu Jan 15, 2009 12:45 pm

For the last couple years I've been having issues going into some convenience stores where their air compressors or heat pumps are causing dizziness. My head will just start pounding so I have to get in and get out as quick as possible. Once I exit the store the issue stops, however, several minutes later I will have sort of a callidoscope starburst in my periferal vision. Appears on the left side only, I can close my eyes and it is still there, just more colorful. Yesterday this same thing happened to a much lesser degree at Wal-Mart, so places where it hasn't happened it is now starting to happen so that has triggered my "worry meter".

I'm healthy, 42 year old male. BP stays around 118/78, pulse is normal, on no medications. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your question....have you had a full neurological examination?
If not then this should certainly be done.

Haven't gone in yet as I was wondering what kind of issue this could be before I shell out $thousands$ for who knows how many exams. I'm not sure its a neuro thing even, could the inner ear or something cause the issue? I'm just trying to find a ballpark before I press on.

Ran into a first year resident and bounced it off him, problem solved, thanks anyway!
