unsteadiness and muscle tension

New postby DCLC on Sat Oct 25, 2008 6:07 pm

For many years I have been suffering from something I can't really put a name to. If I may give some examples:

When I am in a department store, the florescent lights can cause what feels like a slight dizziness or unsteady feeling on my feet. The unsteadiness also happens if I am standing in one spot for more than a couple of minutes (i.e. standing on a line at a store or even waiting for the bus). After a couple of minutes, I feel I need to lean up against something or someone in order not to fall. When this happens, I also tend to have what feels like an anxiety or panic attack. I get hot and shortness of breath. Even when I look up to the sky, I get unsteady and almost fall. I also suffer from muscle tension at times. I tend to grasp things a lot harder than the average person (like a cup). I also tend to clench my jaw and toes quite a bit. It doesn't happen every day but it is quite constant.

About 11 years ago, I suffered from a minor head injury and I needed some stitches, but I was told I was ok. Around that time I also began experiencing sinus infections once or twice a year. I'm wondering if the head injury has anything to do with the above mentioned problems?

I have no insurance at the moment, so I am very hesitant to go to the doctor to have tests taken, but I would like some ideas as what could possibly be wrong and if it really does require medical attention. Right now it's just more of an annoyance then anything.

I also need to add that I was born with cerebral palsy ( I believe it is called spastic diplegia), but the symptoms I've mentioned didn't begin until I was in my 20's around the time of the head injury.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I think is unlikely to be related to the head trauma.
If you are feeling unwell you should definitely go to the GP to get examined and they may find no reason to do extra tests...at the very least go to the doctor and get checked.

let us know how it goes.
