Spinal cord or...................

Postby lanza on Sat May 31, 2008 9:23 am

Within 6 weeksI had trouble wih my balance, I fell down suddenly and had muscle weekness. Reflexes: +++. clonus. MRI scan: stenosis C3-C7 with compression. Operation: laminectomy.
Now after 8 month: balance is a little better, right arm and leg are weak;
flexion hip weak; activ extension right knee impossible.
Reflexes +++, clonus.
Severe pain in neck and back. Deep pain in right upperleg. MRI lower back: stenosis, no compression, bulging disk L3.
Therapy: Baclofen 30 mg.
What can I do against the very severe pain in neck and back and what to do with the weak flexion hip and extension knee.

Several therapies are available: oral agents (pregabalin, gabapentin, duloxetine, tricyclics, opioids,..) or other methods such as epidural blocks.
what to do with the weak flexion hip and extension knee?

It's necessary to check the reason for the weakness . To check whether the L3 disc is causing a radiculopathy that may explain the deep pain and weakness in your right leg,I would recommend a full examination (e.g. if the reflexes are less in that leg it would support a problem in the nerve root) and to perform an EMG to exclude this possibility.
