shoulder blade and chest pain

Postby ksd1225 on Sat Jun 21, 2008 7:18 pm

I am a 40 year old female who had been experincing shoulder blade & chest pain from the spine over & only on the right side. I also was having arm pain and difficulty using my right hand. I had a herniated disc c-5-6 that was affecticting the right side of my body and a surgeon performed a fusion. I am still having right sided chest and shoulder blade pain. The arm and hand problem has been corrected. Sometimes it feels as if a 2x4 is being pushed through me. The surgeon swears it is muscular and had sent me for PT. The PT has not helped. My question is what other test could be perfomed to identify the pain and should I see a neurologist?

Yes..you should certainly receive a full neurological examination as your symptoms could be due to the problem in the cervical spine.

Tha having been said, you should also see your internist / GP as chest pain should always be dealt with urgently to exclude a cause within the chest...I assume this has been checked already..if not it should be

Hope that helps and let us know how it goes

all the best
