Cervical spine

New postby rn4life on Sun Jan 11, 2009 7:03 pm

Hello I am new to this board. I am a nurse currently out of work I injured my c spine in november was sent to ortho doctor whom ordered an mri it stated i had a broad based bulge with a superimposed protrusion at that level so far the only tx i have recieved is pain med of course not working and pt. I am currently under no md care ortho md referred me to neuro surgeon surgeon read my mri report he did not see films and stated i did not need surgery. Which is great. So now I have an appt with a rehab/pain md on feb 2. Where here is my problem I woke up about a month and a half ago and my thumb and index finger on my right had was numb feels as though they have been injected with lidocain. That continues. About a month ago i woke up and I was shaking as if I had parkinson's disease after sitting up and taking meds it went away after a few hours. Well I woke up this morning still shaking but it has cocntinued all day and also my pain in my neck is worse and my neck is really stiff . I think that disc has ruptured but with my symtoms could something be compressing a certain nerve? And is my sx going to get worse and do think i need to do something now. I feel I may cause more damage by waiting. But this is workers comp and I can only do what they approve. Thanks for your time and any help is appriciated
