(POTS) and sleep disorder(sleep lab)?

Postby Bluesky on Wed Jun 18, 2008 12:05 pm

I am still trying to find out whether having POTS - orthostatic hypotension - would have an effect on a sleep study results?

I am constantly sleepy - to the point where I almost fall asleep driving - and even though I woke up several times during the study, and very early in the morning, I was told that my sleep study was 'normal'.

When I am lying down, I can feel my blood pressure dropping and sometimes feel dizzy and nauseated. Wouldn't this have shown up on the sleep study? I have heard of some people having a false negative reading, so I am wondering if people who have POTS would have a problem with getting an accurate diagnoses for a sleep problem?

I'm sure that I'm not the only person on the board who has POTS and sleep problems....

What is your actual blood pressure when you feel it dropping?

Please post the full results of the sleep study (polysomnography and MSLT if tested)

thanks
