I have been troubled by phantom smells for over 5 years. I used to have warts in my nose and I have a feeling they have moved up into my brain or at least further up my nose. I have had an MRI and an EEG and both tests were unremarkable--they ruled out seizures and tumors.
List of symptoms:
Phantom Smells -- I smell smoke, dead bodies, rotten garbage, lilac -- not really there.
Can't stand in one place for longer than 10 minutes -- I get extremely ill, about to pass out, sweaty and clammy.
Dull and sharp pain behind my eyes -- Feels like needles, sometimes pressure -- Pushing on my eyeballs helps alleviate the pain.
Slurred speech, extremely forgetful speech -- not all the time, but a lot.. I say "remote" a lot in place of the word I am trying to say -- Sometimes I do not realize that I have said nonsense sentences -- Sometimes my speech is so bad it sounds like a foreign language or babbling and I cannot talk correctly for several minutes.
Fatigue and Insomnia -- If I'm not sleeping for 16-18 hours a day, then I can't sleep more than 4 hours per night. It's never balanced.
If ANYone can help me figure this out, please please give me some hints. I have been going to the doctors off and on for this. It is very depressing and troubling to me and I am unable to live a normal life because of these symptoms.
Thank you very much!
-Andrea
