Hi and thank you for your time :)
About four months ago I injured my ulnar nerve at the distal side of my elbow. I only had 3-4 days of tingling and never lost sensory or motor capabilities, luckily. However, I've been experiencing pain since then, though it has gotten much better. I've gone to doctors and reading as much as I could to understand my condition as well as possible, but there are still two things that I don't fully understand and would really appreciate if someone helped me:
- I don't understand why I experience pain after leaning for a while on my olecranon bone. Nothing severe, but still annoying. I don't understand how is that possible since the ulnar nerve goes through the ulnar tunnel, between the olecranon and the medial epicondyle, so I can't be putting pressure on the ulnar nerve by leaning on it, isn't it?
- I also don't understand why writing with my injured arm in a high table causes pain, or leaning on the heel of my hand. If the injury is on my elbow, how is it possible that leaning on the heel of my hand for a while ends up causing pain?
I, however, seem to understand why using a computer mouse with my injured arm causes pain, since I'm putting pressure on the injured area of my inflamed nerve. This understanding, however, can't answer my two previous questions.
Understanding these two things is very important to me. Thank you very much!
