Trileptal during pregnancy

Hello,

my girlfriend is taking Trileptal to prevent ceisures caused by hippocampal sclerosis she has been found when she was 4. We are planning to have a baby soon so I was wondering what are the chances of any birth defects and what should we do If we want to have a healthy baby.
