MS?

New postby neuroquest on Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:00 pm

Hello,

I have just returned from my Primary Care doc, and am quite concerned. I have been having headaches for about 2 weeks, and twice I also had a few little spots of vision loss. My right eye was damaged in an accident a while back, and vision is too poor for me to discern if the vision loss was only in my "good" eye, or both. I noticed that as I looked at a sign, I could see the letter I was looking directly at, but those to the side disappeared. This happened twice, each time for about 15 minutes.

The second time scared me enough to cause me to go to a walk-in, where they performed a cat scan that came back negative. I was told that it was likely a migraine, but that I should follow up with an mri to rule out other, more serious possibilities.

Now, I have not been prone to migraines in the past, but did suffer from them in 2009. At that time an mri was performed, and the neurologist showed me some spots, or areas that he said did not worry him as many people have these.

I had a second mri and the results of it were sent to my pc physician. While waiting for him, the nurse told me "I'm not supposed to tell you, but I will if you don't tell the doctor I let you know. I could get in trouble."

Of course I said tell me, and she said "It looks like you have MS, I'm sorry."
I said, "Is it fairly certain?"
"Yes, but don't tell the doc I told you. I just didn't want you to worry."
Wow, not worry? Anyway, doctor said he couldn't really tell me I have ms, not his specialty.
Is he just letting the Neuro break the news, or did the nurse really jump the gun?
