Tired, Spacey, Can't Concentrate

New postby CTReader on Fri Jun 05, 2009 12:07 pm

More and more frequently I am spending the entire day spaced out, tired, and with limited concentration ability. Frequently feel very thirsty no matter how much water I drink.

Also get slight pressure headaches mostly on the left side. The weird thing is that aerobic exercise seems to make it worse!

An MRI a couple of months ago yielded nothing, but the symptoms have been staying with me longer and longer each day. My neurologist said he couldn't see any sign of stroke but I am still very worried.

I don't know if this is related but a few weeks ago (subsequent to the MRI) I bumped my head pretty hard on the metal part of a nautilus machine.

Should I see another neurologist? Should I ask him to do another MRI or other tests.

How old are you?
Did you ever have concentration issues as a child?
How is your mood?
How long do you sleep for at night and do you sleep well?
Have you had general blood tests?
all the best

- 55
- In retrospect probably ADD
- Mood: generally a worrier
- Sleep - not a good sleeper. 6 hours if lucky
- Blood tests all completely fine within the last few months

I guess the biggest red flag to me is the aerobic exercise thing. Used to make me feel great. Now, I just do it because I know it is good for me.

Should I get an MRA?

Many thanks.

Well worries and lack of sleep can certainly bring on these symptoms, especially in people with ADD who went undiagnosed as kids.
You may find that getting more sleep could certainly help things...if you suffer from insomnia due to the worries then this should be dealt with too.
If any of these simple measures do not help or anything gets worse then you should see a neurologist or a psychiatrist....if you do have ADD it is never too late to check this out and get appropriate treatment.
