Subarachnoid haemorrhage caused by AVM rebleed first aid

New postby natasqi on Tue Mar 10, 2009 7:08 pm

Hello. I am a carer for a 34yr old woman who had a subarachnoid haemorrhage in Dec caused by an AVM.

There is a possibility of a rebleed which may present as a headache or altered vision or speech etc.

If I do call an ambulance, is there anything I should do while I wait for it. I know I should keep her calm and relaxed, but should she sit up, or lie down? Is there any other things that I could do to reduce possible damage?

Thanks

Not really.
If she has a seizure then you should just make sure she does not hurt herself on anything.
It is unlikely that a rebleed would cause any heart or breathing problems before an ambulance came, but in this unlikely event you should be prepared to do CPR.
hope that helps
