Stroke Question.

New postby Rob Fowler (eugien) on Wed Aug 05, 2009 4:07 pm

Hi I have scoured the internet for answers to these questions.. I m not due to see my neurologist for a few more months and am curious about a couple issues .. I would ask him but since my stroke my short term memory is a joke.

let me preface this : I had a stroke in October of 04 the emergency room diagnosed it as a PINCHED NERVE on my L7 and sent me home told me to follow up with my GP on Monday ( this was on a Saturday ).

I saw my normal doctor that Monday, after talking to me he sent me for an MRI immediately, while in the MRI they shut it down and sent me back to the Drs office where I was informed there was a half dollar sized flare on my left temporal lobe towards the center. later the stroke was found to be caused by a condition known as ALPS ( antiphospholip syndrome I believe ) .. after a lot of blood work and a lot of Heparin shoved into my stomach through needles.

ramifications I endured are typical of stroke survivors as near as I can tell, numb / tingling on my right side, ocassional wrong words spouting while speaking, strange sensations of hot cold on the affected limbs, ringing in ears and best of all short term memory loss.

which brings me to my question

Why do I have such a hard time differentiating between Real Memories and Imagined ( fiction ) / Dream Memories ? There has no one able to supply me with an answer .. is this something I m just going to have to live out my days with .. etc

The other things are just mild annoyances, every time I get a deja vu I immediately panic and think it is another stroke because it disorients and disturbs me, heart races sick to the stomach .. and whenever I go to sleep at night no matter how hot or cold the house is my right leg is ALWAYS freezing. But just at night.

So anyway .. :) input? Thanks
