SPASTIC HYPERTONIA FOLLOWING TBII'm not sure what happened to my previous question after I edited it, but I will try again. I would like some information on spastic hypertonia following traumatic brain injury. I had three head injuries, two of which were concussions, in 1992, 1997, 1999. My symptoms began after the 1997 injury about three to five months after. I started with stiffening in my right shoulder, arm, and hand. I would hand out papers to my students and my arm would go into a stiffening mode, I would drop the papers and my hand would end up looking like a claw or a very tight fist. After the 1999 injury, this spread body wide plus I started with myoclonic jerks. I just recently read about spastic hypertonia and feel I fit into this description. One of my doctors suggested this might be a controversial topic with some believing in the dx and some not. What is the expert opinion on this? I feel it is not well known and that's why after seeing many neurologists in various cities, I have not received a proper dx. Could this be true? [b

Re: SPASTIC HYPERTONIA FOLLOWING TBIUnfortunately I didn't have a PCP at the time and I had seen my massage therapist the next day and he told me he thought I had a concussion.I experienced what I thought was a stroke that night after the massage. I was lying in bed with the world spinning around me and I was nauseous. I had a bad headache. I saw a chiropractor six days after the accident. No imaging was taken. Weeks later, still having a headache, I saw a doctor who said I had postconcussion syndrome.
