Small fiber neuropathy sources

Small fiber neuropathy sourcesMy hands and arms get very cold, painfully cold. I have noticed that when I am resting I do not have the problem, but as soon as I get up or start really moving my arms around the coldness comes. I go to bed freezing from the elbows down and calves down but wake up nice and toasty. As soon as I move the covers back, get out of bed and move a few feet, I get hit with the cold. The same thing happens after I have been seated for a while. The coldness leaves after a couple of hours and then as soon as I get up, wham. I'm freezing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Small fiber neuropathy sourcesHi again FM,
Do your hands ever go blue or feel cold when someone else touches them? Please remind me whether you have ever had a skin biopsy to confirm the presence of small fiber neuropathy. All the best "...let the patient talk about their headache for at least 5 minutes without interruptions"

Re: Small fiber neuropathy sources My hands do not go blue. They used to when Raynaud's was all I had - they'd get white , then purple and hurt, and then red. Now they get pale when cold and red when hot. When others touch my hands, their hands feel deliciously warm. My hands, however, often do not feel cold to them while they are freezing to me.
I was tested and tested positive for small fiber neuropathy and decreased sweating. We rejoice in our sufferings. Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Re: Small fiber neuropathy sourcesNo skin biopsy - just some wires and a patch. It was part of the messed up testing at the last hospital I went to

Re: Small fiber neuropathy sources
I think that it may be worth asking about the possibility of skin biopsy to confirm the presence of small fiber neuropathy and maybe even to give a clue of what is causing it. let us know what your neurologist feels about this...perhaps the tests already done suffice but it seems that there are still a lot of open questions which need answering. all the best "...let the patient talk about their headache for at least 5 minutes without interruptions"

Re: Small fiber neuropathy sourcesI have re-established communication with most recent neurologist and asked to have a skin biopsy done. I checked around here but no one has a clue. I'll have to travel back to CT and perhaps more testing. I've just read where all this could be from my fibromyalgia! Have you heard of this?
