i REALLY need help!!

New postby zeuspuppy on Wed May 20, 2009 6:22 pm

My husband is a healthy 33 year old man. Over the past couple years, he has been experiencing abnormal hand movement when he is sleeping. he falls asleep very quickly, and the immediately his fingers on his RIGHT hand start to flex/extend, starting slow, and progressively getting faster. This is a CONTINIOUS movement that occurs for approx. 5 hours of the first part of the night. His fingers move so quickly that the bed actually shakes and wakes me up, however, he is unaware of any movement and does not remember when i wake him up.
Lately, I have had him sleep on his right side. when he does this, it seems that the fingers stop moving, possibly because he is sleeping on his right arm. however, now his right butt cheek has started to twitch uncontrollably. This also shakes the bed.

These movements only occur on his right side. (right hand and right butt cheek). But, if his right fingers are moving, the butt cheek will not. and vice versa.

He does not think anything is wrong with him. he is embarrassed about the situation and does not want to seek help. I am very concerned about this, wondering if it is some sort of nocturnal seizure or parkinsons? I am having a hard time finding any answers on line and he refuses to see a doc. Can anyone ease my mind, or possibly give me any suggestions on what this could be? We are newlyweds and now have to sleep in seperate beds b/c of this!
thanks in advance
Michelle
