Need advice on my 1st Neuro appt...

New postby fesser98sp on Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:49 pm

So I am 31yo female, and I think that I have lupus. Tests were run and came back negative, but I know my symptoms and my history. I KNOW there is something wrong with me. I have been spending lots of time doing research on lupus and every other related condition that may fit my symptoms and still lupus keeps coming up as the closest match. My symptoms have been AM joint pain without sweling(causes difficulty walking from pain), muscle aches(no weakness), migraines, headaches, swollen glands, fatigue, chronic pain behind my ears especially post migraine, and photo-sensitivity. Stress increases symptom activity. My history includes family history, protein and casts in urine, anemia, low Vitamin D, my ESR negative, my Rheum Factor negative, my Lyme titer negative, ANA 1:40 negative(done by hemi-flouresence).

My question is how do I get the most out of my Neurology appointment in regards to my Lupus concerns? I was referred to Neurology because my more recent migraines once treated in the ER have been immediately followed by dull pain and swelling behind my ears and sometimes the pain travels to the base of my skull, or the top of my head, or the side above my temples. In doing research I came across Fig 602 in Grey's Anatomy the Lymphatic System of the head and the majority of the locations of my post migraine pain match the location of lymph glands in the head. I have been very frustrated lately because I feel as though I am not being listened to and that the doctors are ignoring what I am trying to tell them. How do I get them to listen and understand? Is there any chance that they will take the lupus theory seriously?

THANK YOU!!
