Mycoplasma Encephalatis

New postby Julia on Tue Feb 09, 2010 10:13 am

My sister has been diagnosed with Micoplasma Encephalitis. She had a chest infection for a couple of weeks, got progressively worse, was admitted to hospital on Tuesday (she was still conscious & could recognise people).

By Thursday she couldn't recognise people & was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. Today (the following Tuesday) she has been diagnosed with Mycoplasma Encephalitis.

Can you please give me any information on this disease & what the prognosis is likely to be, will she regain consciousness, will there be any permanant brain damage, do people recover from this or is it fatal?
