Muscle weakness & other neuro sx

New postby Astra1986 on Mon Oct 05, 2009 3:06 pm

Hello! I was wondering if you could give me a general idea of whether the following symptoms/signs sound like anything of significance that needs evaluation, or are just a strange reaction to tiredness or something like that. I’m a second-year medical student, so perhaps a little predisposed to notice things. :) I'm very happy and don't tend to be particularly anxious, though, for whatever that's worth!

Symptoms/Signs (fluctuating, gradual onset over 4 years):
- Right-sided limb ataxia/weakness (stumbling, dropping things, etc.)
- Moderate pronator drift of right arm
- Intention tremor of right hand
- Tendency to veer to right (mainly if visual input lacking)
- Fatiguable facial weakness/ptosis (more severe on right side)
- Bilateral Babinski/Hoffman
- "Spells" resembling autonomic seizures: sudden-onset severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting/retching, with cold clammy skin, shortness of breath, generalized weakness, and shivering / shaking (not associated with eating or stress, and followed by extreme tiredness)
- Visual symptoms: floaters, periodic blurry vision, occasional tunnel vision (possibly these are related to wearing contacts though>)

Thanks for your patience!
