mri diagnosed cervical spine edema

Hi. I have lost motor skill ability in my right arm and right leg. I have also been experiencing burning, gripping pain in my right forearm which has spread to my left forearm. I have pain on my right lower side that radiates around to my lower back and shoots down my right leg. I walk a bit unbalanced, as well. My neck feels very tight at times and hurts. When I sit crosslegged I can no longer lower my right knee to the ground. It sticks straight up. The same happens, of course, when doing the tree pose in yoga. I paid $400.00 to see a neurosurgeon, but only saw the nurse. I told him, when he stepped in to introduce himself, that I had a list of 10 questions to ask him and he said that I should have asked the nurse! I had no idea that he was not going to see me, so I did not anticipate the need to ask the nurse. My questions remain unanswered. I do not know what I can do to get this swelling to go down. The emergency room doctor prescribed a one week package of steroids along with oxycotin for pain. I am frightened and because all of this happened, when I was on vacation in Florida, I am now home in Texas waiting for an appointment that will not take place for two weeks. When I asked the neuro nurse in Florida if I could continue my yoga, she said "I wouldn't, if I were you." Does this mean that I can not swim either? Basically, I do not know how serious my condition is. Can anyone advise me a little to help me get through the two weeks until my appointment? Thank you. Mattie
