meds for foot neuropathy (non-diabetic)

New postby LaGBa1 on Sat May 23, 2009 4:56 am

I have neuropathy in my feet due to degenerative disk disease. My general practitioner prescribed Neurontin (gabapentin). It has not worked at all, even with increasing the dose to 2400 mg.

My doctor wants me to try Lyrica, but there is no generic yet and I can not afford it.

Has anyone had any luck for neuropathy with Dilantin (phenytoin), Tegretol (carbamazepine) or valproic acid?

Hi There.

How about non-medicine or herbal things that help Neuropathy?

My mom has neuropathy from Parkinsons and I'm wondering is there anything else that can help? She is already taking a lot of meds so dont want to add to the list.

I also saw a Far Infrared socks that are suppose to heat up the foot and increase blood circulation and help the pain? What do you guys think?

Thanks
