left upper limb sensory disturbances

New postby ashok on Sat Jan 24, 2009 3:28 pm

hello sir
i am an orthopedic surgeon in India
3 week back at night i felt my left upper limb was in awkward position and was feeling numb
from that day the numbness was there for a week and then decreased with presently very little numbness
there was no other problem, no pain etc
i found my trapezius muscle was in spasm from day of onset and thought that the complains are due to spasm and nerve traction injury

the symptoms were getting better without treatment
however three days back i noticed that my left ulnar nerve was thickened behind the medial epicondyle and was minimally tender on deep pressure
also the little finger and the ring fingers were the only ones to have some heaviness left
the trapezius still feel tight. the ulnar nerve is thickened. apparently all my reflexes are intact and fine motor and sensory systems seem to be intact

now i am really worried about the thickened ulnar nerve after 3 weeks of the starting of symptoms
can you please help me
