how much urgency getting appointment?

how much urgency getting appointment?4 weeks ago I had a sudden onset of pain in my neck and numbness of my left arm/ hand, which progressed to numbness of both hands (though mostly left) and feet, very uncoordinated left hand and a little awkward walking. I am typing this with one hand. I also have some trouble knowing when my bladder is full. I thought it was a disc and made appt with an ortho. He also thought it was a disc but my MRI 4 days ago was read as normal except arthritis on x-ray (I am 45). The ortho said my reflexes were hyperactive and there was something called Hoffman's. So he made an appointment with a neurologist for next week. This morning I had an "aha" moment and realized it might be from the flu nasal vaccine I got several days prior to this happening. I had forgotten a weird thing with painful skin many years ago after a Hep B vaccine, when I was told not to get that shot again. I didn't have an MRI then but just waited and it went away. So if this might be transverse myelitis, is it too late to try steroids? Is there any point in my calling the neurologist for an earlier appt or going to the ER this weekend? I don't want to over-react if I have missed the boat already.
Re: how much urgency getting appointment?I agree it sounds it could be due to a cervical spine problem...please forward us the precise wording of the c spine MRI report.
