I am 38 year old female who gave birth to my second child (4) months. I had no problems with my pregnancy. My labor and delivery was quick via C-section and recover pretty fast. About a little after 3 months days after giving birth, I got a bad headache that I get on and off all through the day. The top of my head on both sides would just throb. If I was walking, I felt ok, but if I sat down or lied down, it hurt worse. I was able to sleep but woke up often from the throbbing. This has been going on for over a month. I went to see my Pt and she said it was most likely a migraine. She said to take Excedrin which does not help much. . The headaches are now here all day but are very dull and move around different parts of my head. They are sometimes on top of my head, in the back of my head, or behind my eyes. This is now over a month with the headaches. I also have some neck pain. I have seen my Pt tree times, she sent me to do a full vision exam and it came back normal. My blood pressure is normal. However, my PT has not recommended any blood work. I did have a physical about a month ago and it came up fine. The other day I was really stress out I even walked into ER and had a CT scan performed done and it came back normal. Many women tell me it’s my body adjusting since I had a baby 4 months ago. I stopped breastfeeding about 1 month ago as well. In addition I have lots of hair falling off.
I am trying to figure out if headaches can be common after childbirth due to changing hormone levels or if this could be something more serious. I don't know how long I should wait it out or if I need to see my primary care or a neurologist. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you – Rosie
