Head Pain

I'm wondering if it's normal to randomly and occasionally feel localized pain in areas of my head? It's not always in the same spot and it usually only lasts for a few seconds or a couple of minutes. Sometimes it feels a little like a pulsing pain, but most often it's just a moment of sudden pain. Why does this happen?
