Enabling Neck Pain (for over a year now)

Postby raquel985 on Thu Nov 20, 2008 8:04 pm

I will start by giving the MRI report it says "mild uncinate process hypertrophy of C-3-4". Please let me say that 2 doctors have looked at this report and say that I am fine. I started to cry at my last appointment because this is so far from the truth. My pain has consumed my every day life as I am a single Mother of two beautiful children. I have always been active, as I was a gymnast for many years and worked out there after... It started a couple of years ago that I really noticed the muscle spasms in my shoulder areas. I was in two car accidents over 10 years ago but did not receive therapy because I was young and naive. One of the accidents, I was stopped and heard the brakes screeching behind me looked into my rear view mirror in just enough time to grab the stearing wheel, tense up and get hit at about 40 mph. I have now over the last few months started to experience tingling in my arms, weakness, holding a glass of water and it shakes?? When I called the Dr to tell him this I was told there was no reason I should be experiencing that per the MRI report... I am now waiting on a referal to an orthopedic surgeon. My neck is so hot with pain and sometimes it feels like there is a part of the bone that shifts out of its place.. My massage therpist felt this and wont even work on me until I get word of whats going on. Just typing this has caused severe muscle spasms. I live everyday in pain, somedays much worse than others. My Grandmother was diagnosed in her early 30s with arthrits and had it so bad she could barely walk, and now Im finding out my Grandfather had arthritis is his spine.. Im told however this is not hereditary.. ? Also I did have one PT tell me he felt a bone spur in my neck and it was not "growing down and over the bone but curving very strange..." Sometimes I cant even touch the certain area in my neck or I will scream out in pain because of the nerve damage. (can you believe 1 of the Drs told me there are no nerves in that area of your neck) I am so tired of being told nothing is wrong with me! Can someone please give me insight, I am at an utter loss..

Thank you!

Have you been examined by a neurologist?
What did they find ( I am talking about when they look at you, not the MRI!)
