Constant Headache for 10 months

New postby Pasesak on Tue Apr 27, 2010 6:18 pm

Aloha from Hawaii,
I am a 27 year old woman, and I have been on a rollercoaster ride for about 10 months now. In June of last year, I started to feel aweful. I got a splitting headache, finger and toe numbness, weak muscles, low energy, sensitivity to light, etc. These symptoms were constant for two weeks, but then they dissipated. I felt fine for a month, but then the headaches returned. At first, they were two to thee times a week, but over the span of a few months, they changed to constant headaches. By constant, I mean 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There was never any focal point, my whole head just hurt, as if I had been hit hard by some hard object. The doctors ran an array of tests: I was tested for diabetes two different ways (the first test I had a blood sugar level of 153, the hemoglobin a1c however was negative.) I was also tested for rat lung which came out negative, I was given a blood test for all my organ functioning, which came out normal except a vitamin d deficiency, I was given a chest xray which I never received results from, and lastly, I had an MRI. On the MRI, there were a couple of things that showed up: a focal area of high signal in the left cerebellar peduncle near the pons at the level of the 7th/8th nerve roots, 6.5cm in diameter, post contrast level of enhancement 9mm. The other thing was a slightly thickened pituitary stalk 4mm down to 2mm. I saw a neurosurgeon and he claimed both things were of no concern, since he didn't see any sign of swelling and my symptoms didn't suggest any neurological damage. He thought the spot in my left cerebellar region was a brain birth mark or something. Next I saw a neurologist, and he was so bad he didn't even look at my MRIs and said if the neurosurgeon said it wad fine it must be, and said I probably have tension headaches and prescribed Norotriptyline. My frustration just keeps growing, since the island I live on has no neurologists, so I have to fly to Oahu in order to see one. After I started taking the nortriptyline, for a month I felt better. I was also not eating wheat for fear of celiac disease. But then, the headaches started returning. Now, I am back to square one. I have been having some problems with confusion, I forgot my bank code that I've used for years one day. I have been extremely weak and tired, feel painfully hungry at times, and sick after I eat, cold feet all the time, off and on horrible joint pain, I have TMJD that the dentist tried to fix but it is still hurting, and I've been yawning every 5 minutes for months now. My eyes have been kind of messing up too, I went to an eye doctor and he said I just have vitreous gel. I need answers desparately. No doctors have seemed to show concern for my condition, but living this way has been hell. What could possibly be wrong with me? I am not a smoker, rarely drink, eat healthy, and work outdoors. I am 5'3" and 110 lbs, blood pressure typically normal unless I am having a really bad headache, an average heart rate of 100 bpm, maybe higher. Since I started getting sick, my mom revealed she used to be hypoglycemic and my sister was recently diagnosed with it too. My grandpa on my dads side had diabetes. Doctors have tried a wide array of pain, migrain, steroid, and other medications but none have worked. Please give me some kinds if answers!
