2nd seizure followed by slurred speech & decreased coordina

New postby mpsingact on Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:51 pm

Hello. I have a friend who has just had her 2nd seizure. Her first was 2 months ago and this one happened this past Wednesday. She is 20 years old and had no history of seizures and no family history. We are actors and are currently doing a show. A couple weeks before her first seizure she was hit pretty hard in the head with a metal object we use in our show. We thought nothing of it at the time but now it is our best guess as to why she is having these seizures suddenly. She is now taking the medication Keppra and is still performing in the show – we only have 7 performances left and she has decided to finish despite her health issues.

She has been doing alright but her coordination has been a bit off and she's taking more time to do things. After today's show however, she was very upset. She said that she had the feeling of wanting to do something but kind of not being able to catch up. She felt not in control of herself at times and it scared and frustrated her. She said she was slurring her words a bit. It was not really noticeable to anyone though. She also said she almost fell 2 times when doing a little waltz she does in the show. Her coordination is not there. And she also just generally feels like she's doing everything a bit slower. Is this cause for concern? Could this be side effects from the drugs? Is it a sign that another seizure might be coming? Any possibility of a tumor or internal bleeding? Should I/she be worried about this?

Thank you for your help.
