Extreme shakes and always cold

Postby danray on Wed Apr 23, 2008 10:18 am

I had what at first appeared to be a simple panic attack, causing a syncope, which in turn caused a PSVT. Fearing for what was a know heart problem, the attending Nurses massaged my carotid artery, bringing my heartrate down to about 140. By the time the Ambulance got me to the ER, all signs were normal except for low BP. After about 4o minutes, I was released to go home, with a diagnosis of a simple syncope.

Since then, I continue to get Extreme uncontrolable shakes, followed by extreme fatigue. Cardiologist says heart is fine. Psychiatrist says my fear of dying at the time was insufficient to result in PTSD. (?) Neurologist/GP says my CT Scan showed some abnormalities that 'May' be small vessel ischemia. New recent MRI yet to be examined by Neurologist and GP. Now being scheduled for an EEG.

Psychiatrist would not venture a diagnosis, (curious), but only ruled out Panic Attack and PTSD. Shaking/Tremors 'spells' do not include nausea, persperation, etc., but are recently getting more frequent and much more severe.

Any recommdations based on your previous experiences? Would it be at all possible that the original 'syncope' diagnosis could have actually been a 'small' stroke that may have damaged something neurologically? ( I understand that a TIA is by its own definition is almost always self resolving within a day or so), but these 'epsiodes/spells' have been going on now for almost 3 complete months.

Now taking, per MD prescribed, Xanax .5mg three times a day, and am continually 'drunk', as a result.

58 year old Caucasion male, overweight, Coronary Heart Disease, Diastasis Recti hernia, Peripheral Neuropathy.

Neurologist nurse arbitrarily ruled out Parkinson's because I 'am not old enough'.

Any recommendations, please?

Thanks for your question danray,

Please let us know the following:-

1) What is the cause of your neuropathy?...do you have diabetes..has this been tested for?
2) Whether you have had any symptoms affecting only certain areas of your body?
3) Whether you have had a full neuro exam...if so what was found?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
