Burning pain sporadic in all limbs

Postby FeatherMe on Mon Jun 30, 2008 1:44 pm

About a week ago I started with spots of burning pain scattered throughout all limbs. It feels like a lightning strike looks. A central spot with fingers of pain spreading out all around. It doesn't last long, but it sure grabs my attention! Any clues? :?:

It sounds like the type of pain you are describing may be due to your neuropathy (and called neuropathic pain). Have you seen the peripheral neuropathy specialist in Mass General yet? There are many medications which are effective for this type of pain if it becomes a regular thing.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for the info. I don't understand this neuropathy stuff at all. I do know it drives me nuts! I've just got off lortabs after two years about six weeks ago. Could that have masked these things? When they hit, it is hard for that part affected to stay still.
My appt. is on August 19th at Mass General. I discovered I was hooked on pain killers after my surgery so it has been a long haul working through that but today I can say I am glad to be free and in my right mind or at least as right as it may get! Whatever, it's still better than life a few weeks ago. No more sweating! Amazing. PTl.
