I am writing to you because I don’t have a good chance to find out more about my symptoms very soon.
I am presenting my case hoping that someone might have a clue.
37 years old woman, in good health, under a lot of stress.
-In 4-5 days a numbness and tingling caught gradually fingers of the both hands (except right thumb and index and left thumb), both tights, and lower trunk- like a band under breast.
-1 week later - severe weakness and fatigue, difficult breathing (for aprox. 7-10 days), and difficult walking.
-for 2 weeks everything was hard but I miss job only 3 days in order to go to doctor and rule out anaemia, hypothyroid and cervical spine problem.
-Ironically, I work with my hands and the tingling-free fingers are the ones I use for work! So I keep going to do my job.
-Now, after 4 weeks from my first tingling in the finger I feel better, I don’t have the feeling that I am going to fall tired on the ground, and I start walking better (even climbing stairs 2 by 2, only after a good rest). But I stil feel my walk in a weird way.
-One week before my symptoms onset, a colleague had a cold and caught in my face. I remember that for a moment I did not want to breathe, looking at her red eyes, and listening at her voice and coughing.
-From the beginning I took huge amounts of Vit.B1, B12, D, Omega, Ca, Mg, and everything I found over the counter and Internet. Just recently I remembered lecithin (obviously I should have taken it before
-Could be a mild form a Guillain-Barre syndrome? It seems pretty acute for me but my doctor said that something viral does not last that long (2 weeks when I saw him).
-Should I expect recurrence? – it would ruin my carrier.
I have an appointment for EMG on Aug 22 and it seems to me that it is a little bit late. The system in Canada does not work to fast. A lumbar puncture is just a dream of mine now, that I still have numbness and some weakness in legs. If my profession did not depend of my hands ability, I would not be so worry. I am also worry because I and my husband wanted a child soon.
Thank you for your time.
