Periphial Nerve Dysfunction

I was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disorder when I was 12 years old. I am now in my late 30's and am wondering how progressive can this disorder become and would I be looking at the need to go on disability some time soon?

Do you know which type?
Have you had a genetic test...e.g. for CMT1A (PMP 22)?
Whay is your current state of function?
How are your parents?
