Triptans

Postby Dr_prakesh on Sun May 04, 2008 3:43 pm

If there are any migraine gurus out there please advise.
My local hospital has kindly allowed me to purchase a single triptan drug for use in our clinics for severe migraine cases.
I am undecided as to which to choose as they all have pros and cons. I find it hard to believe all the trials at face value given the funding conflicts of interest that is so common sadly.
A generic sumatriptan is cheapest but does anyone think we should pay more to get one of the others...we can only get one!

I would choose sumatriptan, the main reason being that IMHO it is at as good as the new ones, it is much cheaper and also has the most known about it regarding its use in early pregnancy.

Also, if they let you get it in sc or nasal forms then this is great for cluster headaches or people who cannot take pills during a migraine.
