MS vs Lupus

New postby sarah3783 on Thu May 29, 2008 4:38 pm

hx: familial hypercholesterolemia, thin basement membrane disease, fatty liver
s/s: numbness/tingling extremities, freq/urg urination, diarrhea, joint/muscle aches, headaches, fatigue, depression/ anxiety, cognitive/emotional disturbances, insomnia, memory loss, sens to heat. MRI w/o contrast showed small white lesions, with contrast was (-). ANA (+)1:640 and anticardiolipin (+) IgM 27. Neuro feels its lupus. Are these normal s/s for lupus? Should I worry about MS? At this point I don't feel its safe/healthy to continue my 12-13hr days as a nurse. Will any medication help me feel less tired and continue working? I'm also worried that I should move closer to family as I have none and few friends here. I'm over 800 miles away. Thanks

Thanks for your questions...I would like to know the following:-

1) What exactly was found on neurological examination...was a spinal cord problem suspected?

2) Was on MRI of the spine performed?

3) Have you had a lumbar puncture?

4) Do you have a rheumatologist? You should really see one if lupus (SLE) is a possibility.

5) What is your ESR / CRP now?

6) Are you on any meds?
