Temporary Memory Loss

What are possible reasons for temporary memory loss during sleep (i.e., completely forgetting location just after awaking suddenly, and then eventually regaining memory after several minutes)?

Please explain what exactly happens to you...do you mean that if for example you are on vacation then when you awake in a hotel room you feel disorientated until you remember you are in a hotel?

No. I'm talking about something that happens everyday. Almost every time I fall asleep, even if it's for only a few minutes, I wake up out of a dream and don't know where I am. At this point I know I'm awake and not dreaming, but unless I open my eyes and look around, I have no sense of where I am.

This is probably a very normal phenomenon and not indicative of a disease process.
Have you visited your GP about this?
What did they say?
