I have had a single headache for a year and a half or so. I've done some research and come up with New Daily Persistent Headache. This seems the closest to what I've been experiencing. For about a year and a half, I've experienced a constant, nagging, burning/stabbing sensation on my scalp. There is also a great deal of tightness. Sometimes I can feel it in my eyes and my face. I had an MRI, and my brain scans came back normal.
I know that the discomfort is directly related to stress, but I don't know if that's the primary cause. When I get upset or stressed, the stabbing/burning sensation flares up immensely. When I pray or relax, it's not nearly as severe, and is mostly a mildly annoying tightness. It's more uncomfortable than painful - mostly just annoying, though it can make it difficult to concentrate and do schoolwork, especially if I have to pay close attention. Massaging my scalp makes it momentarily much better. I'm thinking about getting my muscle tension on my scalp and neck measured.
Something that's concerned me is that this started not too long after I weaned off two antidepressants, Prozac and Remeron. I saw my neurologist and told him about this, and he put me on a small dosage of Nortryptaline, a tricyclic antidepressant. I told him I thought that it might be better for me to be back on Prozac, or maybe Zoloft, since an SSRI would be better suited for my obsessively anxious personality, if my headache is indeed caused by stress (which he is convinced it is), but he refuses to prescribe me an SSRI because he's convinced it has nothing to do with my headache. Maybe he's right, but I'm not sure. What he prescribed me doesn't work very well.
