Experiencing strange smells

Postby liswbb on Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:18 am

I have been experiencing a smell that noone else smells. Ive had the symptom for 9 months now. I havent had any other neurological symptoms at all...no headaches, blurred vision, dizzziness, etc...just the smell. Its difficult to characterize. It is not a burning smell. It isnt a fowl smell. its actually kind of pleasant..maybe sweet. Sometimes like cappucino, or a sweet bread? It can be quite strong at times. Often it isnt, but if I inhale through my nose, I will always detect something. I havent had a ct scan or any tests done, and am wondering if I should to r/o brain tumor or something ominous. I havent, because it seems after all this time there would be other symptoms if it were something serious. What do you think?
Thanks, Lisa

1) Has a local cause (e.g. problem in the nose or neary) been excluded by an ENT examination?

2) How long do the episodes last?

3) Do you have any other symptoms (loss of consciousness, shaking, confusion etc?)

4)Please provide general info (age, other medical issues, medications etc).
