Hi,
I hope you might offer an opinion regarding the following:
As an infant I suffered some oxygen deprivation related to a placental abruption.
While in the nursery I was believed to be experiencing seizures so I was placed on phenobarbital for the first 6 months of my life which was then discontinued as I was found no longer to be suffering any ill effects.
During my childhood and adulthood I had several episodes of deja vu...not so unusal, then in my early to mid 20's I started to experience other symptoms in conjunction with the deja vu that seemed to increase in intensity.
I'll describe the more "intense episodes"- these happened about 5 times.
It would start with the deja vu, I would feel disconnected, and I would find myself "stuck" - unable to respond appropriately to others in front of me (I found myself in some uncomfortable situations while people just sort of stared at me - made me feel like a real weirdo).., I was unable to move normally, if I was able to talk it would come out strangely, this all happened with a horrible feeling of anxiety and a queasiness in my stomach, these more intense episodes would end with a nasty headache.
These episodes are behind me now, but I find myself now (in my early 30's) on the following medications to treat anxiety/irritability/depression:
effexor225mgs, lamictal 100mgs, seroquel 50mgs, klonopin .5mgs- all daily
Can any of these things described relate to that early oxygen deprivation?
Thank you so much for ANY info you might be able to offer!
1) I've never had an EEG
2) I take lamictal for depression/anxiety/irritability
3) I've never had brain imaging
4) I haven't seen a neurologist since I was an infant
