missing membrane ?

Postby dadto3 on Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:15 pm

Hi, I was just wondering if one of the experts could help me. I had about 5 seizures of unknown origin over the past 15 years. They never occured while awake, only in my sleep. I was put on Tegretol for a while and then switched to Carbamazepine a few years ago. I have seen a neurologist a few times but he moved out of state a few years back and I never really searched for a new one. I have been following up with my family doc. every 6 months to have my Carbamazepine levels checked (which are always normal). I was sent for an MRI and a sleep-deprived EEG a couple months ago. The EEG came back ok, but the MRI showed that I'm missing the membrane between the two frontal lobes. Due to other things going on lately, I only found this out a few days ago. My family doc. didn't have a lot of knowledge about this so I was just wondering if someone could help me out. I was wondering how common this is and what kind of problems (if any) that it could cause for me. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Please attach a picture from the MRI if possible and also send the full official MRI report.

I would like to know if a special "epilepsy protocol" MRI was performed including thin sections of the area of the brain called the hippocampus.

Looking forward to hearing from you
