Probable pineal cyst

Postby meridawn73 on Tue May 27, 2008 1:58 pm

Hello. My daughter had an MRI last week and we were told that they found a 1.1cm cystic mass in the pineal region of her brain that probably represents a pineal cyst. However, there is a 3mm enhancing peripheral nodule in the wall of the lesion. Our family doctor has been of no help with this and we don't see the neurologist for another week. She has severe headaches every day, and last night she fall down 3 steps and said her head hurt when it happened (she did not hit her head; she said it hurt "inside" like it was jarred around). I would like to know what our best course of action is between now and the neuro appointment. I don't know how serious all of this is!! Thanks!

Has she had her eyes looked at?
Please forward the precise wording of the scan and if possible attach some pictures.
Was anything like hydrocephalus / raised intracranial pressure or hydrocephalus mentioned?

Does she have vomiting?
How old is she?

NON-EXPERT RESPONSE

My daugher has the same issues. she has fallen several times, crying stating she can't tell where the stairs begin or end. No neurologist has been willing to help us. They believe that she has migraines and that her pineal cyst is to small to cause perceptions issues, sleep disturbances, etc. We just wait and wait for new symptoms to occur.
