Do Neurologists Help with Benzo Discontinuation?

Postby s007843 on Wed Sep 24, 2008 12:34 pm

I've been taking Xanax for almost 10 years (current dose is 2.25 mg/day) for panic anxiety disorder. I've been doing well for a year or two and want to at least wean down if not discontinue Xanax. I've been talking to pharmacists, nurses, and doing research on the internet. The only consistent advice is wean slowly. Would a neurologist have expertise in weaning down on Xanax?

Thanks,
Mark

Some may although psychiatrists more commonly deal with this.
"...let the patient talk about their headache for at least 5 minutes without interruptions"
